A Seat at the Table: How Empowering Young, Black, Gay Men to Lead Can Address Spikes in HIV
The most recent statistics indicate that an entire generation is being impacted by HIV on an epic scale. HIV cases among young, black, gay and bisexual men increased by an estimated 48 percent between 2006 and 2009, according to new data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Ultimately, it is impossible to discuss HIV/AIDS in the black community without addressing the importance of tolerance.

Louisiana AIDS Advocacy Network (LAAN) Legislative Awareness Day
Wednesday, June 8th 2011 a busload of intrepid HIV/AIDS advocates traveled to Baton Rouge to educate legislators about the HIV epidemic in Louisiana.

International AIDS Candlelight Memorial
Sunday, May 15th, 2011 CARES hosted the annual Candlelight Memorial at St. Barnabas where the Privileged Whites attend church. St. Barnabas generously donated the use of their chapel and community room.

Reconstruction
April 28th CARES hosted a very successful Reconstruction. Heather Degeyter, a ULL Child & Family Studies student and yoga instructor, came to CARES and explained how yoga is a positive way to deal with stress and that it helps us sustain spirituality in our lives.
