Counseling Testing and Referral

Counseling Testing and Referral is an intervention that affords individuals the opportunity to receive an HIV Antibody Test to determine their HIV status and to offer them needed community referrals, such as referrals to area health units, community clinics, and social service agencies.

      Goals

  • To assist clients in improving their self-perception of HIV/STI risk
  • To develop a realistic and incremental plan to reduce risk of infection of HIV/STI’s
  • To provide referrals to care/services
  • To make available condoms (male and female) and bleach kits
  • To identify new infections and ultimately decrease HIV infection throughout the region

Acadiana CARES conducts HIV Counseling Testing and Referral every Tuesday from noon until 3 PM and on Wednesday from 6 PM until 8 PM. HIV Counseling Testing and Referral is also available by appointment. For more information on HIV Counseling Testing and Referral, please call the office at (337) 233-2437.
