Prevention Materials

Prevention Materials Availability is a community –level intervention that focuses on increasing the accessibility of information about HIV prevention and condoms for preventing the transmission of HIV and other STI’s. It involves the distribution and monitoring of educational materials, HIV Info-line promotional items and other prevention tools through approved sites and outreach activities. Examples of Prevention Material Sites include community centers, beauty shops, bars, and tattoo parlors.

Acadiana CARES maintains over 100 Prevention Material Sites throughout the Public Health Region IV. For a list of sites, please contact Anthony James, Director of Development and Community Outreach at (337) 233-2437 ext. 44 or anthonyj@acadianacares.org.
