Substance Abuse Treatment Services
Acadiana CARES Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Facility is a 40-bed residential treatment facility with both primary and secondary treatment programs.
The mission of the Acadiana CARES Residential Treatment Facility is to make a positive difference in the lives of people affected by substance abuse, poverty, HIV/AIDS and homelessness. Through a phased primary and secondary residential substance abuse treatment program geared toward transitioning the person from dependency to self-sufficiency, treatment is provided to all clients in a safe and caring environment free of discrimination and social stigma. The facility is funded, in part, by the Louisiana Office of Addictive Disorders.
Primary Treatment
Program
The primary treatment program is a 90-day, 12-Step-based program of recovery designed specifically for persons with a substance abuse disorder who also have HIVAIDS. The program will utilize Recovery Dynamics as the primary treatment method. Recovery Dynamics adapts the AA program to the 90-day cycle of treatment used in our program. The Recovery Dynamics program will be supplemented with psycho-educational and self-help support groups focused on content appropriate to persons living with HIV/AIDS. Clients will focus on their program of recovery and stabilization of their HIV/AIDS condition with the ultimate goal of learning to live independently and successfully as productive members of society.
St. Francis
Foundation Seasons of Serenity Program
The St. Francis Foundation Seasons of Serenity Program is the secondary treatment program of recovery with lasts up to 12 months. The highly structured setting offers the recovering individual an opportunity to change his or her life and the time to make the necessary changes. Clients learn new coping skills and can address their needs within a peer group of individuals who share similar problems. The program is divided into three (3) phases or seasons of the year (Winter, Spring and Autumn). Each season has progressive goals, responsibilities and accountabilities. As the client progresses through each of the seasons, he or she earns progressive freedoms as they move toward independence with the ultimate goal of returning to society as a sober and productive individual.
