PRIMARY TREATMENT PROGRAM

Our primary residential treatment program is designed specifically for people with a substance use disorder. Lasting from 21 to 45 days, and based on the 12-step recovery model, Pathways utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches in group and individual secessions including: the 12-Step recovery philosophy, relapse prevention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, recreation groups, yoga, family therapy, horticulture, meditation, job preparation, vocational rehabilitation, and educational sessions to increase awareness.

These therapeutic sessions are supplemented with psycho-educational and self-help support groups, including specific medical, social, physical, and psychological concerns associated with HIV, Hepatitis C, sexually transmitted infections, and other diseases common in this population. While not all clients in Pathways have infectious disease, this provides the opportunity to reduce the stigma associated with them by providing education and open discussions.

While in Pathways, clients focus on their program of recovery and the stabilization of any medical problems, with the ultimate goal of learning to live as independent, successful, and productive members of society.

Upon completion of the Pathways program, most clients will transition to our St. Francis Foundation program if further treatment is indicated.
